If the vase, figurine, trophy or booth prop must show a silk color shift in one print pass, order a custom dual-tone or triple-tone silk gradient, not three solid PLA Silk spools. Where it shows up: gift sets, décor vases, collectible figures, trophy shells, retail counter props and short-run marketing samples under booth light. Buyers want the strand itself to carry two or three tones so the print shifts as the nozzle climbs. That is not the same job as a structural housing or a load clip.
What material it usually is: silk-look PLA. The catalog PLA Silk card is high-gloss silk for display — heat deflection 58°C, impact 18 kJ/m², flexural 72 MPa, about 12 colors including metallic and cream tones, print 200–230°C, bed 50–60°C. Solid silk is one tone from that card. Custom dual-tone and triple-tone runs keep the silk look but put two or three tones on the same strand. Impact on silk stays the look-grade number: do not force a silk gradient into a drop-load clip. Standard PLA stays the easy solid-color line when sheen is not required.
How we quote custom: write dual-tone or triple-tone, list the tone sequence, and lock samples before the lot. Dual-tone is two tones on one strand. Triple-tone is three. We compound and extrude in Foshan — 20 lines, 500 tons a month — so the OEM line can follow the buyer’s sequence after a 1–2 roll sample. Private label on the spool and bag is available. Usual production step after samples is 50 kg. Specs on the solid silk card stay the reference until the sample lot TDS is locked.
