Buyers in Brazil and Mexico, new accounts and repeat accounts, are holding full orders. The argument is ocean freight, not the spool. We sell FOB Foshan. The ocean leg is the buyer’s forwarder. On 6 Oct 2026 Mundo Marítimo reported that Hapag-Lloyd announced a general rate increase of US$1,000 per 20-foot and 40-foot dry container from 15 Oct 2026, from the Far East to the east and west coasts of South America, Mexico’s west coast, Central America and the Caribbean. The same report says CMA CGM announced US$1,000 per container from 15 Oct, from Asian ports to both coasts of South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, and that collection depends on the market. That is a carrier notice, not a line on our quote. Ask the forwarder which sailing is before 15 Oct, which is after, and what they will actually bill.
The filament quote stays the FOB number. A high ocean rate does not make the spool a worse material, and a small lot does not buy a cheaper rate per kilo. It puts fewer kilos on the expensive sailing. Repeat accounts: 50 kg of the PLA or PETG they already run, the usual MOQ, so the farm does not stop. New accounts that have not printed the grade: 1–2 sample rolls, then 50 kg. Not a container while this notice is the live argument.
Hold the container until the forwarder sends a quote lower than the sailing you are avoiding. We do not name the week the rate falls. When that quote is lower, the same approved grade is the bulk order. Do not switch grades to save freight.

Order check: printers would stop before the next sailing → 50 kg of the current PLA or PETG. Grade never printed here → samples, then 50 kg. Forwarder quote already below the 15 Oct notice → then talk about the container. Do not ask us to cut the FOB price to hide the ocean bill.
