When an RFQ for a parts tray, lidded job box, line tote or IPA-wiped fixture says “just PLA, cheap and easy” or prices PETG and PLA as one SKU, ask whether the part sits on a desk or carries hardware, gets wiped and dropped. Channel logic: in the six-scene map, service bureaus, fixture shops and consumer small batches printing trays should not default to PLA. Show-floor models that may crack can stay PLA. Low-heat snaps stay PLA+. Liquid-adjacent or wiped boxes stay PETG. Strong solvents stay PCTG. Hot-cabin clips stay ABS. Outdoor UV stays ASA. Dental and implant work is out of scope. Quote PETG, PLA and PCTG as separate SKUs.
Factory notes: dry PETG before you print; ship vacuum + desiccant. Use moderate cooling so layers stay together. Label PETG / service bureau tray so warehouses do not mix PLA, PLA+, PCTG or ASA. Samples 1–2 spools. Print the buyer’s real tray, wipe it once, then lock OEM. Do not promise untested food contact, UL or OEM-car approvals.
